Meeting July 08, 2008

Faye opened meeting at 6:00 pm.

Rachel listed possible ground rules for the discussion of the potential golas.

  1. No one should dominate conversation
  2. Stay on Topic
  3. Follow agenda
  4. Open communication
  5. Cell phones to vibrate
  6. Be courteouse to others


Ground rules were adopted

By the end of the next meeting (August 5th) we should have a rough draft of the management plan.

A great deal of discussion followed on each item from the hanout, "Councils's Combined Goals and Objectives". Rather than attempt to re-create the discussion in the form of minutes, I am going to try to list the Goals which will be develeped into the rough draft for next meeting.

Water Quality

  1. Continue work to reduce bacteria
  2. Maintain bacteria levels to allow swimming anytime
  3. Maintain clear water (4.5' requirement)
  4. Enchance fish habitat
  5. Reduce contaminant leveles fo lake inflow
  6. Enhance aquatic ecosystem

Stabilize shoreline and reduce soil erosion.

Dredge soil and/sediment from lake.

Other matters that were discussed include:

  1. Continue to build ponds with the design of reducing runoff into the lake
  2. Rachel will monitor the status of the funds and let us know if any changes are made by the legislature when it goes back into session
  3. In September we will try to inform the public of our Management Plan
  4. Other items will be developed through other partnerships and with other monies
  5. By late October we will begin to drain the lake

The next meeting date is August 5th in the Lake Darling Office.
